Praga is an old and rather neglected right-bank district of Warsaw. The revitalization of one of its run-down courtyards was part of a wider campaign to help degraded areas. Their inhabitants are at risk of social exclusion, loss of neighborly bonds and a sense of local identity. Their participation at every stage was an important part of the project, resulting in their later involvement with the renewed environment. The project was preceded by research and an analysis of local problems, conflicts and shortcomings.
The process took the form of a board game involving designers, inhabitants and community workers. Planting, painting, the creation of a playground for kids, and a recreation area for grownups, were carried out together with residents and volunteers.
